Archived edition

What changed, who is affected, and what to check.

ai-searchAction needed

ChatGPT Ads enters a measurable self-serve beta.

OpenAI now documents CPC buying, conversion measurement, Pixel and Conversions API paths, and reporting limits. The first test needs an evidence plan before it needs more budget.

Affected: Businesses considering ChatGPT Ads in currently supported countries and categories.

What to check

Confirm eligibility, landing-page access, exact event matching, static UTMs, reporting delay, and the downstream business outcome before launch.

Google AdsAction needed

Google adds AI creation disclosures to ads.

Google is adding a How this ad was made panel across Search, YouTube, and Discover. Google-created assets can be labeled automatically. Advertisers can disclose AI work created elsewhere.

Affected: Advertisers using generative AI for images, video, or copy.

What to check

Record which creative used AI, who approved it, and whether a disclosure control appears in the account.

Google AdsWatch

Performance Max gains channel diagnostics.

A new diagnostics view is being reported for missing or disapproved assets that can restrict channel delivery in Performance Max.

Affected: Businesses running Performance Max across multiple Google channels.

What to check

Look for channel diagnostics before changing bids or budgets. Asset eligibility can be the constraint.

Google AdsWatch

Demand Gen adds broader resizing and Gemini creative guidance.

Google says Demand Gen will add more aspect-ratio transformations and Gemini recommendations while advertisers choose image and video assets.

Affected: Advertisers using Demand Gen on YouTube and other Google surfaces.

What to check

Review generated crops before launch. Confirm that the first frame, product, offer, and required text survive every format.

MetaVerify

Appointment booking is appearing inside Meta instant forms.

Jon Loomer reports appointment booking from instant forms alongside other conversion updates. Availability can vary by account.

Affected: Lead-generation advertisers using Meta instant forms.

What to check

Verify availability inside the account. Test qualification, calendar ownership, reminders, and CRM handoff before sending traffic.

Google AdsAction needed

Google moves lead-conversion uploads to Data Manager.

Google says offline conversion imports and enhanced conversions for leads now use its current Data Manager path. Older upload implementations can stop providing the downstream qualified-lead signal that bidding and reporting depend on.

Affected: Lead-generation advertisers importing qualified leads, converted leads, appointments, contracts, or other offline outcomes into Google Ads.

What to check

Confirm that recent downstream outcomes appear under the intended conversion action, that the upload path is current, and that calls or forms are not being treated as the final business result.

MetaAction needed

Meta changes how off-platform activity controls work in July.

Meta says business activity data already used for ads can also personalize Feed and Meta AI responses. The company is retiring one disconnect setting and expanding another usage control as the change begins in July.

Affected: Businesses sending website, app, purchase, or lead activity to Meta through Pixel, Conversions API, SDK, or partner connections.

What to check

Save a dated July baseline for audiences and reporting, confirm which events the business sends, and review consent and privacy language with the appropriate legal owner.

ShopifyAction needed

Shopify Rollouts can stage and test storefront changes.

Shopify says Rollouts can launch, gradually release, or A/B test themes plus checkout and customer-account configurations.

Affected: Shopify teams changing themes, checkout, or customer account experiences.

What to check

Use a written success metric and rollback rule. Do not call a visual preference an A/B test result.

MetaAction needed

Meta expands Business Agent for customer conversations.

Meta says its Business Agent can answer business questions, recommend products, book appointments, qualify leads, and hand conversations to staff.

Affected: Businesses receiving inquiries through Instagram, Messenger, or WhatsApp.

What to check

Define the questions automation may answer, the point where a person takes over, and how qualified inquiries reach the sales process.

This week

Five checks before the next campaign change.

  1. Add a July change marker to Meta audience and performance reports, then save the before-change baseline.
  2. Confirm that qualified-lead and converted-lead uploads still arrive through the current Google Ads Data Manager path.
  3. Remove purchase conversions from accounts that do not sell online.
  4. Review AI-created ad assets and keep an approval record.
  5. Check Performance Max asset eligibility before changing budget.
  6. Map the answer boundary and human handoff before enabling automated lead conversations.
  7. Give every Shopify rollout a success metric and rollback rule.
  8. Confirm ChatGPT Ads eligibility, exact event matching, static UTMs, and downstream outcome evidence before launch.
