AI citation is engineered. The plumbing businesses doing it are absorbing the new leads.

Plumbing has the second-shortest decision cycle in local trades. The buyer has a leak. The buyer wants a plumber within an hour. The AI citation is the first surface they see. The reviews are a tiebreaker between the three the AI named.

Owners who lead with reviews think they are leading with trust. They are. They are leading with stage-two trust. Stage one moved to AI citation. Both filters need work; review count alone is now a partial defense.

The vocabulary work is the under-priced lever. Your service pages were written in plumber language: drain, sewer, hydro-jetting. Real buyers type panic vocabulary at 2am: water everywhere, leak getting worse, ceiling stain. The AI cites pages that match panic vocabulary, not pages that match procedure vocabulary.
