AI discovery reporting reaches five countries

Google said on September 16 that AI performance insights in Merchant Center are now available in Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, and the United States. The report compares a retailer's share of voice across AI Mode and AI Overviews with other brands.

Treat the report as a new observation surface. Save the first date range, markets, and product set before editing titles or attributes so later movement has a usable baseline.

YouTube help and UCP checkout have separate limits

Google is inviting eligible U.S. retailers to a beta that places Business Agent inside YouTube ads. Viewers can ask product questions without leaving the video. The beta is not a general release for every advertiser.

Merchant Center's UCP tools are also adding cart transfer and enhanced checkout testing. Those capabilities are rolling out gradually in the United States, with Australia and Canada planned for early next year.

Product data still controls the answer

A conversational sales surface can only work with the catalog details it receives. Check price, availability, variants, shipping, returns, loyalty data, and product attributes on a representative set before inviting more traffic.

Our recommendation: test discovery, product answers, cart transfer, and completed checkout as separate steps. A product mention in AI search is not proof that the checkout path works.

What to check next

  1. Confirm whether AI performance insights are available in Merchant Center.
  2. Save a dated baseline for AI Mode and AI Overviews discovery.
  3. Check product attributes, prices, availability, shipping, and returns.
  4. Test cart transfer and UCP checkout on an eligible account.
  5. Keep discovery, visits, checkout starts, and completed orders separate.

Sources and scope

Google announced several separate rollouts. AI performance insights cover five countries, the YouTube Business Agent is a U.S. beta, and the new UCP capabilities are rolling out gradually in the U.S. Google did not promise traffic or sales for an individual merchant.

The announcement is confirmed by the source below. Practical checks in this article are Stan Consulting's recommendations.
