Owner’s worksheet · Plumbing

How to read plumbing Google Ads leads.

Start with the job record, not the conversion total. A call, a booked visit and a completed plumbing job are different events.

Use one row per original inquiry

Record date, source, requested work, service area, answered or missed, next action and outcome. Give each inquiry a reference so repeat calls do not become several new leads. Keep customer details in your approved business tools, not a shared public worksheet.

Decide whether the inquiry was serviceable

Use reasons your office can apply consistently: outside the area, work not offered, unreachable, duplicate, or a request you could serve. Do not label a caller “bad” simply because they asked about price.

Count the steps separately

Count serviceable inquiries, booked visits and completed paid jobs. Booked visits divided by serviceable inquiries describes booking performance; completed jobs divided by all original inquiries describes a different rate. Label the denominator.

Look at the job mix

Drain clearing, urgent repairs and water heater replacements can have different costs and margins. Review them separately before deciding which campaign deserves more budget. An average across all services may push money toward the easiest calls instead of the work you want.

Make one decision the notes can support

Many wrong-area inquiries suggest checking targeting and page coverage. Serviceable calls with no response suggest an office handoff problem. Booked visits that do not become work require a look at attendance, diagnosis, pricing and customer fit. Do not blame a channel for every loss.

A record your office can use.

Copy these headings into your existing job or inquiry record.

  • Inquiry reference
  • Requested plumbing job
  • In service area?
  • Answered / returned
  • Visit booked?
  • Job completed?
  • Reason / next action

Use your own figures

What did a completed job cost to acquire?

Use costs and outcomes from the same group of inquiries. Include related management and page costs. Wait for an appropriate decision window; open estimates are not completed jobs.

Figures stay in this browser. They are not sent with an inquiry.

Enter all four figures to calculate. Enter 0 where a cost is zero.

Illustration: $1,000 in advertising + $500 in fees, 20 inquiries and 5 completed jobs = $75 per inquiry and $300 per completed job. This is not a trade benchmark. Compare costs with actual job margin; the calculator does not calculate profit or recommend a budget.
